Monotone is a free distributed version control system. It provides a simple, single-file transactional repository using SQLite, with fully disconnected operations. It uses an efficient peer-to-peer synchronisation protocol to communicate changes with other repositories. It understands history-sensitive merging, lightweight branches and uses cryptographic hashes as revision identities and RSA keys to sign and verify changes. It runs on a large number of Unix varieties (including MacOS X).

This lecture is intended for people who have some basic understanding for source code management systems, like CVS, SVN, ClearCase, Perforce, RCS and the like. It will include a general description of how monotone works, some demonstrations and use cases as well as a demonstration of the GUI tool monotone-viz.

Richard Levitte är en utvecklare som är djupt inblandad i diverse OpenSource-projekt, såsom OpenSSL, monotone, m.m.
